PRESS RELEASE October 14, 2003
The age for a new type of digital piano has arrived.
CASIO’s PRIVIA models completely redefine digital piano standards
A keyboard instrument is ideal for the whole family with many factors speaking in favour of acquiring one. Children who play music at an early age are successful in their later efforts because the study of music has a positive impact on a child’s cognitive and creative development. Young people can focus their energy on a meaningful activity while sharing in the performance of music together with others. Adults are able to easily relieve stress and collect their thoughts while playing the piano. Despite these benefits, many customers still have misgivings about keyboard instruments. Keyboards and digital pianos are heavy, bulky and take up space when not in use. The instrument appears to be a burden ... this is certainly true regarding the relatively high price, too.

Against this backdrop, CASIO has developed a completely new family of digital pianos. A PRIVIA Piano is easy to play, easy to operate, easy to transport and set-up is a snap. This new concept in digital pianos is called “Take it easy”. In other words, the PX Series instruments follow the signs of the times. And the sympathetic price makes purchase as easy as pie. "PRIVIA – That's all it takes." This slogan captures the essence of our product philosophy. All of CASIO’s know-how as a worldwide leader in consumer electronics has been concentrated within the compact design and modern features of its digital stage pianos. You will hear the difference in the newly developed HL sound source (Highly compressed (Large waveform) and you will feel it in the newly developed hammer action keyboard. Both the sound and touch of the PRIVIA models perfectly reproduce the sound of an acoustic piano. In this price category this amounts to a minor revolution.

All PRIVIA models feature the outstanding stereo sound of a concert grand. For this purpose, the Dual Elements sound chip applies individual samples for soft or hard touch, thus creating especially life-like sound experiences. The new Natural Scaled Hammer-Action keyboard for PRIVIA features the finest in mechanics. The pure lever mechanism (Without springs) of the 88 scaled Hammer-Action keys play practically like an original grand.

It simply feels right, The PRIVIA models have all the attractive visual features expected of modern day digital pianos. The reserved design of the instruments with a silver and wood finish allow the instruments to blend in well with many interiors, and thanks to their compact lines, the pianos can be placed wherever you feel like playing. Without taking up too much space. For even more flexibility, the optional piano stand can be applied.

The three PRIVIA models – the PX-100, the PX-300 and PX-500L – all have the “Take it easy” concept in common while specifically targeting consumers who place a premium in optimal flexibility and independence. Each instruments has features which cater for specific requirements in its respective category.
